Back by popular demand, on Saturday March 16th, Shannon Kickboxing Club bring their fourth show to the Oakwood Arms Hotel. According to the organiser, local man Howie Vincent, Lords of the Ring - Thunder & Lightning, will follow on the success of Lords of the Ring 1, 2 and 3.

Howie promises that this will be yet another action-packed evening of entertainment. For the first time in the club’s short history, 17-year-old local fighter Josh Vincent will challenge for a national title, the IKF Light Heavyweight Title.

Josh has been subjected to a tough training regime six days a week. His schedule includes long hours in the gym, swimming and sparring at Tullyvarraga Hall. His opponent will be Vili Popa who fights with Wexford Martial Arts Club. Popa has a very strong grounding in the martial arts and will prove a tough and worthy challenger for Josh.

Over the last number of months junior members of the Shannon Kickboxing Club have been involved in several competitions around the country. Coach Howie Vincent was especially proud when Leona O’Shea brought home the All Ireland title in her 53kg Light Contact division.

Local supporters will also have something to look forward to when Mick O’Neill has the opportunity to challenge for the European Cruiser Weight title in Belfast on April 9th.

Howie Vincent believes that the night of Saturday March 19th in the Oakwood will be a great occasion with a mix of experienced fighters and beginners and, in a sport that respects equality, both men and women contestants.

Local crowd pleasers will include Michael O’Neill, John Bowe, Mick O’Neill, Adrian O’Donnell, Leona O’Shea, Kim Mulcahy, Michelle Pike, Darren McNamara and Caimin Murphy.

Some cracking bouts of kickboxing and hopefully some knock-outs can be expected! If you haven’t been to one of these shows before, you will be guaranteed a very exciting, dynamic atmosphere for all the family, right on your doorstep.

Admission is €10 per adult and €5 for children under 12, who must be accompanied by an adult. Shannon Kickboxing Club are ready for Thunder & Lightning, it sure to be a night not to be missed.
